I'm entering this as my latest project for "Whiplash" as an introduction. I usually sew with traditional fabrics but wanted to do something a little different. I decided to tackle my second "Lambkin" using the pattern available at patternbee.com. This time I went a little nutty and made it out of clear vinyl (like you buy on the roll). It turned out pretty cute. I added button eyes and a little piece of pink satin for the nose - underneath the plastic. A pink bow completes the little guy. I'm thinking there's a lot that could be done with this idea - like stuffing him with different materials like my shredded fabric confetti. Hmmm.... Back to the sewing table I go.

Lazy Day

Well, it hasn't really been altogether lazy. I'm working on a little bag made from some of my "scrap confetti" technique. I've finished sewing the bag but the little scraps are shedding a little. I think I'll throw it in the washing machine to see if I can remedy that. Pictures to follow. On another note, the in-laws are in town from Massachusets. We've had lots of fun. Yesterday we went to lunch and then to Joann's (craft store) where I picked up some stuffing to make more critters as well as some fabric remnants and a few items for the July Coloriffic Swap (aqua and brown - yum!). We're all going out for a big Italian meal tonight so that should be wonderful. My mother in law is sending down lots of her leftover craft supplies that she's accumulated over the years - bits of lace, ribbons, buttons, fabric - I can't wait to open those boxes and dig through the loot! Yippeeee!!!

Macaroni Bling Bling and Iced out Popsicle Sticks

This is my entry for the Craftster.org Challenge #12. The rules were to create a craft using at least 3 items from a list of standard craft items. I chose macaroni (pasta), gimp and popsicle sticks. The "chain" is made out of penne shapped pasta that was spray painted with "platinum" metallic spray paint. The cross medallion is made from two popsicle sticks - one was cut in half and trimmed down to make the cross piece and then glued to another full stick. I spray painted it as well. I coated all of the pieces with clear laquer spray because the silver was sort of rubbing off . Then I "iced out" the cross by gluing on rhinestones in different shapes and sizes and added a little silver glitter for extra sparkle. I glued a small piece of pasta to the back of the cross to create a "bail" to hang it on. I strung up all of the penne and the cross onto silver metallic gimp. I'm really quite pleased with how it turned out. I'm sure aspiring rappers everywhere will be scouring the supermarket and craft store shelves to create this original piece of jewelry!
